Guidance and career transition

Professional dancers have neither a trainer, nor do they have a manager.
They alone are in charge of their careers.

“The professional regime is one where you work to earn your keep,
whereas the vocational regime is one where you earn money
in order to be able to freely exercise your need to create.” Nathalie Heinich

On average, a dancer’s performance career lasts 15 years.

Dance is a profession that requires demanding training and a vocation
that involves the whole being, which is driven by an intimate necessity.

WORKSHOPS

These workshops’ main goal is to help the dancer in the organisation of his/her professional career by providing practical tools and knowledge. These workshops are also the occasion for dancers to broaden their network and be able to share and discuss their common experiences.

Organised several times a year, they approach specific professional problems and are directed by experts in the field.

They are free for members of the RDP and cost, in most cases, CHF 30.- for non-members. They are open to everyone. Enrolment is required.

"PREPARE YOUR TRANSITION"

Objectives of the workshop:
Raise dancers' awareness to the stakes of transition, to provide them with advice and information in order to help them anticipate this moment.

What are the stages of a transition?
What are the challenges and needs of the dancers at the time of his retraining?
Who are the partners who can help them?
How to put all the chances on his side throughout his carreer for a succesful transition?

When and where:
The workshop will take place in the autumn. The date and place are still to be determined.
