Guidance and career transition

Professional dancers have neither a trainer, nor do they have a manager.
They alone are in charge of their careers.

“The professional regime is one where you work to earn your keep,
whereas the vocational regime is one where you earn money

On average, a dancer’s performance career lasts 15 years.

Dance is a profession that requires demanding training and a vocation
that involves the whole being, which is driven by an intimate necessity.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT

A skills assessment can help a person find his/her way and to define his/her career transition project.

This is a step that aims to draw up an in-depth inventory of the knowledge accumulated by the dancer through the course of his/her professional and personal life, to translate this knowledge in terms of skills and to make them count in his/her favour. It gives insight into the behaviour and the motivations of the person by means of an analysis of his/her values and interests. The goal is to identity two potential targets of professional transition.

This process is carried out with the help of a psychologist and counsellor in the field of professional orientation.

This service can be offered by the RDP following a one-to-one counselling if justified by the dancer’s situation.

A skills assessment is valued at CHF 500.- and can be paid for by the RDP.
