Introductory Course to Professional Life

INTRODUCTORY COURSE TO PROFESSIONAL LIFE


The RDP offers a course called “Introductory course to Professional Life” aimed at young dancers who are following vocational or prevocational training. This course is geared towards enlightening dancers on how the dance profession functions.

It is divided into four classes, each of an hour and a half, and covers the following topics:

  • Professional dancer: a vocation and a profession

  • Professional dance in Switzerland (the job market, different types of contracts, organization of the professional field, resource-organizations)

  • Job hunting and employability (auditions, networking, work contract, etc.)

  • Professional career, mid-term to long-term (projection to 1, 5 and 15 years, career transition, pension funds)

The objective is to help young dancers successfully enter their professional life by giving them specific knowledge and tools such as fact sheets.  The course is tailored to the age and needs of the students.
